Privacy Policy — The Pocket!

The Pocket! ("we," "our," "the app") is built by Ashley DiFonzo. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it's used, and your choices.

Information We Collect

Account information.If you choose to sign in, we support Sign in with Apple and Sign in with Google. Depending on the choice you make during sign-in, we may receive your name and email address (or Apple's private relay email address if you choose to hide your email). We use this only to identify your account and sync your data across your devices.

Picks, streaks, and bracket selections. If you sign in, the games you pick, your current streak, and your bracket selections are stored so they can be scored and shown back to you across sessions and devices.

Followed teams. If you sign in and follow a team, that selection is stored to personalize your experience (for example, in the Home Screen widget). Followed teams are not used for any purpose beyond personalizing what you see in the app.

Leagues.If you create or join a League (a group of friends or family competing on picks), we store the group's name, an invite code, and the list of members (identified by account, not by any additional personal information) so the group's leaderboard can be calculated and shown to members.

Notification preferences and device push token.Your choices about which notifications you want (kickoff reminders, final scores, pick results) are stored on your device; for final scores and pick results specifically, that preference and a device push token are also stored on our server so it can notify you when you're not actively using the app — see "Notifications" below.

Live Activity push token. If you have a Live Activity running for a live game (shown on your Lock Screen and Dynamic Island), a separate, per-game Live Activity push token is stored on our server, tied to your account, so we can push live score updates to that Live Activity. This token is different from the device push token above and is only created while that specific Live Activity is active.

Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect your precise location, contact list, photos, or microphone/camera data. We do not use analytics or crash-reporting tools. We do not sell your information to anyone, and we do not use your information for third-party advertising.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information above to:

• Let you sign in and keep your picks, streaks, and followed teams in sync across your devices
• Score your picks and bracket selections and calculate leaderboards for Leagues and the Global Leaderboard you're part of
• Send you the notifications you've opted into (kickoff reminders delivered on-device; final scores and pick results delivered server-side)
• Personalize what's shown in the app (such as your followed teams in the Home Screen widget)
• Maintain and improve the reliability of the app

Third-Party Services

Firebase (Google).We use Firebase Authentication to support Sign in with Apple and Sign in with Google, Firebase Firestore (a cloud database) to store your picks, followed teams, and League data, and Firebase Cloud Messaging plus a Firebase Cloud Function we operate to deliver final score and pick results push notifications. Firebase's own privacy practices are described at firebase.google.com/support/privacy.

Apple Sign in with Apple / Google Sign in with Google. Each handled entirely by Apple or Google respectively, according to their own privacy practices.

ESPN game data. Scores, schedules, standings, and rankings shown in the app come from publicly available ESPN sports data. No personal information about you is sent to ESPN.

We do not use any third-party advertising or analytics networks.

Notifications

Kickoff reminders are scheduled and delivered entirely on your device — no notification content is sent to or through our servers for these. Final score alerts and pick result notifications are sent by a server-side function we operate so they can reach you even when the app isn't open: this requires storing your device's push token and your finalScore/pickResults preference on our server, and delivering the notification through Firebase Cloud Messaging. The notification content itself (the score or your pick result) is generated at send time from public game data and is not otherwise stored or shared.

Live Activities

Starting a Live Activity for a live game creates a per-game Live Activity push token, which we store on our server (tied to your account) only for as long as that Live Activity is active, so we can push live score and status updates to your Lock Screen and Dynamic Island. This is separate from the notification push token described above and separate from the Firebase Cloud Messaging pushes used for final scores and pick results.

Deleting Your Account and Data

You can permanently delete your account and all associated data (picks, streaks, bracket selections, followed teams, League memberships, stored device push token, and any Live Activity push tokens) at any time from within the app: open Settings, tap "Sign out" under Account, then choose "Delete Account & Data" from the confirmation prompt. This action is immediate and cannot be undone. For your security, if you've been signed in for a while, you may be asked to sign out and sign back in before the deletion can complete — this is a standard security step, not an error.

Children's Privacy

The Pocket! is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above.
